About Basement Waterproofing
A wet basement usually has a few causes working together: eavestroughs and downspouts dumping water next to the house, ground that slopes toward the walls instead of away, cracks in the foundation, and water building up in the soil after heavy rain or snowmelt.
Waterproofing means finding where the water is actually coming from and stopping it there. Sometimes that’s a cracked wall. Sometimes it’s what’s happening outside the house. Joseph looks at both and tells you what will keep the basement dry.

Common Questions
What causes a wet basement?
Common causes are foundation cracks, downspouts that drain right next to the house, and ground that slopes toward the walls instead of away from them.
Why does my basement only leak in spring?
Snowmelt and spring rain soak the ground around the house, and the water pushes against the foundation until it finds a way in. Fixing drainage around the house and sealing the weak spots stops it.
Is a dehumidifier enough?
It helps with damp air, but it doesn’t stop water coming in. If you see water on the walls or floor, the cause needs fixing.
