Chimney Repair in Toronto & the GTA

Free on-site estimates and written quotes. Call Joseph directly.

Chimneys take a beating from rain, snow and the freeze-thaw cycle. Loose brick, a cracked crown or worn flashing lets water into the chimney and into the house. We repair what can be repaired and rebuild what can’t.

What’s Included

  • Replacing cracked mortar and loose or broken brick
  • Chimney crown repair and replacement
  • Chimney flashing repairs
  • Partial and full chimney rebuilds

About Chimney Repair

A chimney takes more weather than any other part of the house. It sticks up above the roof, so it gets hit by rain, wind and freeze-thaw on every side. Over time the mortar wears out, bricks crack or come loose, the concrete crown on top cracks, and the flashing where the chimney meets the roof starts letting water in.

Small problems are cheaper to fix early. Redoing worn mortar or fixing a cracked crown now can save a full rebuild later. If the chimney is leaning or badly broken down, Joseph will tell you straight whether it needs to come down and be rebuilt.

Signs Your Chimney Needs Work

  • Crumbling or missing mortar between the bricks
  • Cracked, chipped or loose bricks, or pieces of brick on the roof or ground
  • Water stains on the ceiling or wall next to the chimney
  • A cracked or crumbling crown (the concrete cap on top)
  • The chimney leaning or pulling away from the house
  • White, chalky stains on the brick

Common Questions

How do I know my chimney needs work?

Common signs are loose or crumbling brick, cracks in the crown on top, water stains on the ceiling or wall near the chimney, and pieces of brick or mortar on the roof or the ground.

Can it be repaired, or does it need a rebuild?

That depends on how much of the brick and mortar is damaged. Joseph will look at it and tell you which one it needs before you get a quote.

Does my chimney need a full rebuild?

Not always. Many chimneys only need the mortar redone, some bricks replaced or a new crown. A rebuild makes sense when the chimney is leaning or the brick is breaking down throughout.

What are the white stains on my chimney?

That’s usually salt left behind as water moves through the brick. It means water is getting in, so it’s worth having the chimney looked at.
